Quick way to teach it: Drill all four facts from one triangle. Once kids know 3 × 4 = 12, the division facts 12 ÷ 3 and 12 ÷ 4 come almost free — same three numbers, reversed.
A fact family is a group of facts built from the same three numbers. The 3, 4 and 12 family gives four facts: 3 × 4 = 12, 4 × 3 = 12, 12 ÷ 3 = 4 and 12 ÷ 4 = 3. A multiplication–division fact family ties three numbers together: two factors and their product. From 3, 4 and 12 you get 3 × 4 = 12, 4 × 3 = 12, 12 ÷ 3 = 4 and 12 ÷ 4 = 3 — proof that division just undoes multiplication.
These are usually taught in Grade 3 & Grade 4. Each worksheet shows the number triangle and leaves the four facts blank, so kids see how × and ÷ undo each other — not just memorise them.
