Questions parents & teachers ask

What grade do kids learn addition in?

Addition starts in kindergarten with adding within 10 and builds every year — within 20 in Grade 1, two-digit addition within 100 in Grade 2, then multi-digit work with carrying through Grade 4. Pick the grade above that matches your child.

What is regrouping (carrying) in addition?

Carrying is what you do when a column adds to more than 9: you write the ones digit and carry the ten into the next column. It starts in Grade 2 with two-digit addition. The Grade 2–4 sheets above include problems that need it.

How can my child practise addition every day?

Five minutes a day beats one long session a week. Every click generates a fresh sheet with new problems and a matching answer key, so you'll never run out — print a new one each morning.

Are these addition worksheets free?

Yes — every grade from kindergarten to Grade 4 is free to generate and print, with answer keys, no account and no watermark.
